. A British computer scientist born in 1955 who invented the world wide web and was the first person to publish a photo on the web. The photo was an image of the CERN house band Les Horribles Cernettes, an all-female high energy rock band.
Richard Avedon
Richard Avedon, born May 15, 1923, was an American fashion and portrait photographer. An obituary published in The New York Times said that "his fashion and portrait photographs helped define America's image of style, beauty and culture for the last half-century." Avedon worked as an advertising photographer for a department store, but quickly was endorsed by fashion magazine, Harper's Bazaar. A few years later, he set up his own studio and began providing images for magazines including Vogue and Life. Later he began the lead photographer for Vogue. He photographed many famous faces in this studio, including the Beatles and Marilyn Monroe. Avedon won many awards for his photography and his images can be seen in many art museums. Avedon died in 2004 of health issues.
